Huwag kayong mag-alala, lilipas rin ‘to.

Muhahahaha xD

Recto Reflections

Our forth year high school batch (batch 2011) seems to be very happy and fortunate, for (still) an understandable reason why on earth did the Department of Education allowed us pass high school without taking the National Career Assessment Examination or NCAE. (muhahahaha xD). By this reason, other high school students enjoyed to have their mere holiday vacation, especially here in the Metro, which recently suffered from Typhoon Pedring’s wrath. Well, for me and two of my classmates, we took this golden opportunity to travel and seek investments for any collegiate school. I was actually accompanying them to UST (University of Santo Tomas), but eventually I asked them to accompany me (to inquire, as if) to Recto, Manila-the home of the Philippine’s University Belt, merely to seek their delight in enlightening through the crossroad path of Recto, through reflections. I believe that I failed, sarcasm aside.
Walking through the ever odorous paths of U-Belt, I saw a sudden reality-reality that for others may be an epic. U-Belt is the living symbol of what my favourite writer, Nick Joaquin once quoted that the true identity of the Filipino is the Filipino seeking his identity. How will I then prove this reflection? Deforming my euphemistic sense, amidst all the fake stuff: those fake electronic cigarettes, sex toys, reggae for sale fashion get-up, and P250 worth of motel accommodation, people still, I mean, Filipino, no, no, metropolitan Filipino people still adore or let’s say, patronize these shits.
Well, proudly, this is the Filipino pride.
And I’m not insulting those people who make tangkilik of these things, because for Pilate’s sake, I am one of those avid buyers of Recto-made products. I’m even proud of those ‘criminal’-rooted vendors, who are trying to earn for a living, than those beggars who unconscientiously use their young kids as mere mascots to make other people feel pity for their corrupted poverty.
Concluding, I realized therefore that Recto, Manila-the pugad of colleges and universities; of low-paid motel rooms; of scholastic putas; of smoking students; of vendor-syndicates; of tambays; of cheap and kalye bookstores; and of pilyong pilosopos- is the main status symbol, or frankly speaking, THE PERFECT SUMMARY OF PINOY POP CULTURE.

Martial Law 39 years ago

Last Wednesday (September 21, 2011) the Filipino nation once again remembered the greatest historical tragedy in our country. A tragedy not caused by fat men who wear long vestments (that were merely used as costumes to convert the pagan archipelago) with chastity belts or also known as cinctures (also available as the ‘chase the “tt” belts) that were tied around their hypocritical stomachs. Nor was it caused by white skinned sons of bitches, who boldly dominated our small republic and named as their state. It was caused by our own fellow Filipino, the late Ferdinand Edralin Marcos, the President-Dictator of the Republic of the Philippines (1965-1986).

For history’s sake, it was September 23, 1972 when a broadcasted speech of the dictator appeared on national television in which he officially decreed the effectiveness of Presidential Decree No. 1081 that rules that the entire Philippines is placed under martial law. Marcos’ primary basis for his proclamation of martial law was that the suspension of writ of habeas corpus was not enough to stop the pursuing violence caused by militants who are against his rule. One of which was the Plaza Miranda Bombing during a Liberal Party campaign rally on August 21, 1972.

This stage in history is considered as the darkest page in our own democratic Philippines. Many were put to jail, including the venerable Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. who was one of the dictator’s biggest political opponent. Many student-activists from the University of the Philippines (UP) and from the Philippine College of Commerce (now Polytechnic University of the Philippines or PUP) were arrested due to their strong allegiance with the communist forces.

According to my facebook friend who commented on my wall post, being an activist during those days was thoroughly hard. When FM declared martial law, they were in Bulacan, hiding from the military forces who were haunting them. There were members of the PCC student council who were lost, and even at present are. One of them was his (my fb friend’s) best friend, Romy Banaga, student activist and president of the PCC student council. Another recollection came from my mom’s fellow worker, whose sibling is still lost from the hands of the military up to this date.

My intuition tells me that they were either killed by FM’s forces or is still now breathing and fighting in the mountains as members of the New People’s Army (NPA).

It was 39 years ago, almost four decades.

We still exist in its evil spell.

We still live beside its shadow.

But, do we even remember it?

Do we at least care for it?

The democracy-the fresh air-the sunlight we enjoy today were the fruits of those student activists and heroes who fought to defend our raped and abused freedom.

A last note: The dictator now exists in either heaven (sana) or hell (huwag naman po). He’s dead. But as I see our nationhood, we ourselves are not fully aware (especially us the young ones) of our own defects as an individual and as a country.

We (the Filipino people) are now the Marcosistic (or even Imeldific) dictators of our own selves.

Mayaman man o chimamaa.

Lapu-lapu.

Pumapatay ‘tong mga ‘to eh.

Kaso, dahil sa masyado nilang pagiging deboto sa pananampalatayang Kristiyano, ay animong masusunog ka sa impyerno if you ever dare to steal their purity and virginity.

Hot, wild, and sexy.

Go lang ng Go.

(This work is the ideal outline for my dream book)

Shamcey Fever

The whole country became very hooked up with the Ms. Universe beauty pageant in Saõ Paolo, Brazil. I just can’t believe the crowd who are thoroughly waiting for the announcement of this year’s title holder.

Ms. Philippines, Shamcey Supsup was in deed a favoured candidate. Unofficial internet surveys proves this.

This belief gave us FILIPINOS the hope of having our fantasized chick to be able to win the prestigious (and formal) award given to this universe’s most beautiful (and sizzling HOT) women.

Unfortunately however, our erected flags humbled down in prostration when the emcee declared, “THIRD RUNNER-UP….. PHILIPPINES!!! MS. SHAMCEY SUPSUP….”

Most of us (dismayed Filipinos) began reacting violently with this result.

Worse when they proclaimed Ms. Angola as Ms. Universe 2011.

LETCHE.

In reality kasi, our eyes are very judgmental towards black women. It is hard for a common Noypi to actually accept African beauty. This viewpoint towards beauty is deeply rooted from our Hispanic influence, hence saying that white (and morena or tan) beauty alone can be modified as ‘beauty’ it self.

Most Filipino men cannot (at all) try to attempt or fantasize black ladies in their sexual hallucinations.

But as Filipinos, let’s therefore be proud of the elegant beauty of Ms. Universe 2011 Third Runner-up SHAMCEY SUPSUP.

Let’s as well walk with her pride by (not literally, or if you wish then, SIGE!) her tsunami walk-that ooopps, by the way caught universal fame.

Congratulations to Ms. Universe, Ms. Leila Lopez.

Sosyal Kanser

MAy tinataglay kasi itong, cancer.

Social Cancer ang naging topic ni Jose Rizal sa Noli Me Tangere.

Bagong art genre.)
